SSC CHSL – Staff Selection Commission – Combined higher Secondary level. It is an examination which is conducted by SSC every year for the recruitment of eligible candidates for the posts of Lower Division Clerk/ Junior Secretariat Assistant, Postal Assistant and Data Entry Operator.
Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Examination
Scheme of Examination:
The examination will consist of :
Computer Based Examination (Tier-I),
Descriptive Paper (Tier-II)
Typing Test/ Skill Test (Tier-III).
Computer Based Examination: Tier-I (Objective Type):

I.English Language -(Basic Knowledge) -(25 questions)- 50- 60 Minutes For VH/OH (afflicted by cerebral Palsy and OH with deformity in writing hand (PI. See Para 7 of notice).- 80 Minutes
II.General Intelligence -(25 questions)- 50 III.Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic Skill) -25 questions -50
IV General Awareness -(25 questions) -50
This examination tier will consist of Objective Type - Multiple choice questions only. The\r\nquestions will be set both in English & Hindi for Part-II, III & IV.
There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer
SSC CHSL Tier-II Exam Pattern
SSC CHSL Tier-II is a descriptive test that is conducted to test the written skills of candidates in English/Hindi. The paper involves writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter/Application writing of about 150-200 words. The minimum marks that a candidate needs to qualify SSC CHSL Tier-II are 33 per cent.
The total time duration of the exam is of 60 minutes and total marks are 100 marks.
All the questions are based on the concepts of 10th standard.
The total time duration is 80 minutes for candidates who are visually handicapped or suffer from cerebral palsy.
SSC CHSL Tier III Syllabus
Tier-III of SSC CHSL 2017 will be a Skill/ Typing Test of qualifying nature. The final merit of the selected candidates will be based on the basis of total score obtained in Tier-I and Tier-II.
Skill test for the post of Data Entry Operator:
In this test, a candidate should have data entry speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour.
Duration of the Test is 15 minutes and English document having about 2000-2200 strokes/key-depressions is given to type.
